Vape Talk / I bought a griffin 25 rta
« on: April 29, 2016, 09:42:29 PM »
It's a bigger version of the griffin I put away when I broke out my Lemo 2 again. Turns out tiny dual coil tanks get really hot really fast. My wicks would get gunked up hella fast and my juice would turn brown all the time. It tasted the same, but still. The bigger one has more room and a single coil option, might fix my bitches. I liked everything else about it, the bad stuff turned up after extended use.

Vape Talk / I built up a coil on my Lemo 2 just for fun
« on: April 12, 2016, 06:26:37 PM »
I like it. I don't think I was using nickel and cotton last time I used it, I was using kanthal and hemp. I get a little less airflow compared to the newer tanks, but the vape sure is good. Kinda weird how just changing a few things makes a big difference.

Vape Talk / Griffin RTA
« on: March 11, 2016, 03:43:15 PM »
Doc asked me to say something if I liked this one. I do. No leaks, vapes well. Velocity-style posts so it's easy to build on. Top fill. Lots of airflow. My only gripes are capacity (3.5ml) and that it's a dual-coil tank, but that's a minor gripe. It's got this funny wick ring thing that some people have trouble with, but it wasn't hard to figure out.

Buuuut I just read about an updated Griffin with a larger capacity (6 or 6.5ml) and a ceramic block you can put in to run single coils. A vendor even dropped a a giveaway thread here about it. Should be coming out soon. Considering that covers my 2 gripes, I'll probably pick one up.

Vape Talk / So I tried a couple of new tanks
« on: January 25, 2016, 11:38:19 PM »
The first is the Wotofo Serpent. Reddit was all abuzz about how amazing this thing is. Long story short, Reddit is full of shit. The posts are turned 45 degrees off center so it's not so easy to install coils, and the juice flow control can move your wicks around making it easy to get dry hits. Figured that one out after rewicking a bajillion times. Not a fan of the serpent. It does have nice airflow, top fill, and you can access the deck without draining the tank.

The second is the Aromamizer from Steam Crave. This one is a little different. On the outside it looks like every other rebuildable tank. The deck looks like a dripper:

and it's super-easy to build on. The tank sits on top of the deck, and the juice seeps in from the bottom and comes in from the 4 holes at the bottom of the deck. It took me a couple of tries to get the wicking right, but holy shit does it wick. I cranked it up to 60 watts and it kept up no problem. I'm sure I could have gone higher. A little less airflow than the tvf4, but the airflow comes in from the side so it would be easy to drill out a bit if I decide it needs to be done. Added bonus? You can get to the deck without draining the tank. No top fill though.

I'm normally a mouth-to-lung vaper, but I did a couple lung hits with this, and I got MASSIVE CLOUDS, BRAH even with just 1 coil, and 2 of the 4 airflow holes closed off. As long as I don't get any spontaneous catfuckery, I might have found a replacement for my leaky tfv4s.

Got mine in, and I'm pretty impressed so far. It is just a hair wider than 2 18650's standing up, and just over 1 inch taller. It is far smaller than any other 2x18650 box I've owned. Metal body, and it is solid. The display will show you what's happening in real time as you vape, the coil temp, wattage, resistance, and amp draw readings all fluctuate. It's kinda cool. The button is semi-clicky and has a little bit of travel, but isn't bad. There's not sliding door or magnetic cover for the batteries, it's got a sliding button and the bottom swings open. We will see how it holds up, but I like it so far. The flavor is amazing.

Vape Talk / Cthulhu RTA
« on: May 15, 2015, 02:49:04 PM »
Finally got my Cthulhu RTA. I have to say, it's kind of a beast. The airholes and juice channels are ginormous.

The posts make building a snap, it's so much easier to get coils in vs kayfun/lemo style. With the juice channels being so huge the wicking isn't as finnicky either. Compared to the Lemo with the airflow open all the way it makes the Lemo draw feel like a carto that needs to be tossed.

I need to play with it more, but my first setup in there is .4 ohms. I tried my normal 12mg juice in it, and it was too much. I bought some small bottles of 3mg juice ahead of time, and that's what I'm going to have to use in this.

I like it. I'm going to buy another.

Vape Talk / Got a little tired of DIY, tried a vendor I saw on reddit
« on: March 17, 2015, 11:12:04 AM »
I wanted to change things up a little, so I ordered a sample pack from vapewild. People on reddit are raving about the shit, and it was cheap. $17 for a sample pack, you get 6 10ml bottles, and they threw in a couple more for free. I got a bunch of fruit flavors, and they are pretty good. Not mind-blowing, but I didn't throw any of it away. I scoped out prices for bigger bottles, and for some of the single-flavor shit it's like $7 for 30ml. $35 gets you 240ml. Thought that was kind of crazy. I didn't even detect any hints of bathtub. I might just buy some more.

Vape Talk / Lemo, rebuildable tank
« on: January 15, 2015, 02:47:00 PM »
Kase, you wanted an airy-as-fuck tank? Go grab a Lemo. I snagged one from the local vape shop (tank on my erlkonigin cracked, the backup tank didn't fit) and the airflow is adjustable from totally closed to "jesus christ how can anyone vape like this" wide open. Might be what you are looking for.

Vape Talk / Couldn't find Kase's thread about twisted coils
« on: January 01, 2015, 11:33:33 PM »
I tried to find Kase's twisted coil thread, but I gave up. I've been fucking around with different wire gauges. 24 is thick as shit, takes forever to heat up and it stays hot way too long after you stop firing. 26 was meh for some reason, and 28 is nice but a decent single coil is around 1 ohm.

I chucked some 28 gauge in my drill and twisted it up. Got a nice low-ohm coil that doesn't take forever to heat up. I'm digging it so far.

Vape Talk / Clourpor ZNA 50
« on: November 24, 2014, 05:46:03 PM »

Got this in today. Like gats said, it makes vapor.

It's not small, but it's not huge either. Fits in the hand well. Buttons are nice and clicky. It comes with tubes for 18500 and 18650 batts. The 18500 tube is flush with the bottom of the mod, the 18650 tube juts out a bit. It is all metal, so it's a bit hefty. Machining is good, threads are fine. Atty connector is adjustable. I like it. Vatic would too.

Vape Talk / Heh, my supermax is going in the trash
« on: November 20, 2014, 03:47:52 PM »
It won't charge.

So I ordered a 50 watt zna clone. I took a hard look at the ipv3, but needing a screwdriver to change the batteries? Ugh.

I just figured I'd let y'all know, some of you have been nursing an erection for months waiting for this kind of thing to happen :D

Vape Talk / Erlkonigin
« on: October 24, 2014, 09:37:17 PM »
Ordered a clone of the erlkonigin from gvapers http://www.gvapers.com/products/erlkonigin and slapped a 1ish ohm coil in it.

It's good so far. Better flavor than my squape and waaaay better flavor than I got out of my R91. Easy to build like the squape, but you do have to drain the tank to rebuild/rewick. Easy to fill, you don't even have to take it off of your mod to do so. The fully adjustable air flow is great, it opens up farther than I would ever need.

The wicking is a little finnicky... too much wick in the side channels and it floods. I have yet to have too little so I don't know if dry hits are an issue or not. The flooding stops once the vacuum evens itself out, so it doesn't run constantly when it happens from what I've seen.

If I can get the proper amount of hemp dialed in and get rid of the intermittent flooding, the squape will get put away. If not, I might end up sending the erlkonigin to Kase :D The only other issue I've had is that the 2 really small orings around the fill ports like to jump right out unless you are careful when you are disassembling/reassembling.
